Roding Riverside is an area of Barking undergoing significant regeneration with a focus on developing the cultural and artistic opportunites within the borough. We were commissioned to create a landmark structure to act as both a visual landmark and opportunity for creatives within the area to showcase their work.

Referencing the maritime heritage of the area and the recent discoverty of historic ice houses in excavations for nearby developments, the structure includes a timber clinker boat alongside familiar local street furniture appearing to emerge from a 'melting' faceted base plinth.

A display board provides a site for curated content from the local studios to be displayed, highlighting the varied outputs of the local creative community.

The project was commissioned by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and the Mayor of London.
