General Store : Pound Plus. Retail frontage improvements as part of a high street regeneration project for Wood Street Walthamstow.
A collection of interventions for a Poundshop on a high street in Walthamstow, designed to reinforce the idea of the shop as a General Store for all your needs. Working closely with the existing tenant to build on the shop’s existing character and priorities, renovations included a new motorised awning, interchangeable signage and new logo / identity.
The logo is composed of familiar household products and objects available in the shop arranged in a symmetrical pattern to create the formal illusion of a traditional crest. The existing entrance threshold was formed with several small door mats. These were replaced with a single large entrance mat with a bespoke graphic to create a clear welcome to the shop from the street.
The roller shutter box was reclad to unify the frontage and becomes a strip to promote a series of specific products to highlight the diversity of stock held within. Each product typeset in a different font. The reverse of these chalkboard signs can be used by the owner as a temporary canvas to promote seasonally specific products.
